ITA: Echo2 talk @ JUG Torino. Nice one!

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

Grazie ancora a tutti!

Sex crimes and the Vatican

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

It’s really a bad thing to have such a shit pile they call the Vatican City in the very centre of my country, only a few kilometers away from the politicians.

Fortunately, our beloved European neighbors help us where our medias fail. Clothdamn! Watch this video from the BBC…

UPDATE: Google, as it has already done in China, censored the video. Another one came out. Thanks to Beppe Grillo.
Btw if you want to assure you a copy of that video, please use aMule, eMule or go to http://go.to/vatican-sex-crimes

ITA: Echo2 talk @ JUG Torino

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

My printer is not really USB 2, nor my laptop…

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

It’s quite unhappy to discover that your brand new printer is not working at all!

I’ve just bought a HP 1018, usb printer, plugged it into my laptop, downloaded and installed the modules (obviously NOT provided by HP, but rather by rick) and…. no, it wasn’t working.

My kernel was complaining with a “usblp0: error -110 reading printer status”… darn…

After a day of googling, I found this post pointing me to this old email.
So I’ve followed the suggestion: I’ve removed the EHCI module, retried the printing procedure and voilà: my printer greeted me with the CUPS test page! Ahh…

As an explanation, it may be that my laptop (as well as my dekstop, both quite old actually) are not really USB 2.0 compliant, or that maybe the printer itself is declaring the kernel to be, while not really being able to manage it.

And… yes, a whole day of googling… I’ve even thought that, probably, linux geeks just don’t print… they just read PDFs on the screen… oh btw, I’m one of them…

New site and new theme

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

As I’ve started my freelance career, I needed a new server. For a tax issue, actually, but even to have more freedom in its administration.

So I’ve switched from a cheap virtual hosting with Tophost (that I thank) to a cheap virtual server with AreaServer.

To celebrate it, as you can see, I’ve even changed the wordpress theme. It’s very cool, isn’t it?

More to come, stay tuned…
